West Sumatra, Smartmoslem.com – The Mayor of Padang, Mahyeldi Ansharullah, agrees that regional head elections (Pilkada) will be held in 2022 and 2023 in several regions whose term of office expires in 2022 and 2023. Moreover, the public also wants the elections to be held separately from the legislative and presidential elections in 2024.

“The expectations of the people between the presidential election and the legislative elections must be separated. I think that’s what should be done. When the public hopes that the regional head who will run out in 2022, the local election will be held in 2022 or 2023. All people want a permanent election for 5 years, “said Mahyeldi during a webinar held by Indonesian Political Indicators on Monday, February 8, 2021.

According to him, the government should listen to the aspirations of the people who want the implementation of Pilkada to be held in 2022 and 2023. This is because the government also needs the community to solve problems in the regions, including handling COVID-19.

“Whatever we do in this country, surely the government is here to provide goodness and advance society. And the people also want this to get stronger, I think what the people want is the government’s attention, “said the elected Governor of West Sumatra Province.

So, he said, the Burhanuddin Muhatadi team survey from the Indonesian Political Indicator is indeed the best and must be carried out by the central government, namely the Pilkada will still be held in 2022 and 2023, separate from the presidential and legislative elections.

“Even though it was said in the Constitutional Court that it had approved simultaneous elections in 2024, I think maybe when it was the people’s wishes that were actualized by the government, the DPR, I think the Constitutional Court also considered what the people’s wishes were,” he explained.
